The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) has clarified that reports claiming the suspension of the Starlink satellite broadband service are false. According to TRCSL Director General Bandula Herath, the service is expected to become operational in April, following the completion of necessary regulatory systems.
Herath explained that the delay in the service’s launch is due to the required dashboard system, which will help manage and regulate the service effectively. This system will ensure proper service delivery and address national security concerns. The Director General assured that Starlink’s satellite broadband service will not be halted, and it remains on track to launch in April.
The statement reaffirms the government’s commitment to expanding broadband access in Sri Lanka, with Starlink expected to play a role in improving internet connectivity across the country.
