Starlink to Launch Satellite Broadband Service in Sri Lanka in April 2025

Sri Lanka is set to launch Starlink satellite broadband service in April 2025, marking a significant advancement in the country’s internet connectivity. The service will provide high-speed, low-latency broadband access to remote and underserved regions across Sri Lanka.

Sri Lankan Minister and Cabinet Spokesperson, Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa, confirmed that the Starlink service will be operational from April. The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission’s Director General assured that users will be able to access the service as planned.

The government is taking necessary steps to ensure the quality of the service and address any national security concerns. Dr. Jayatissa emphasized that these issues have been prioritized from the start of discussions, ensuring that the service will be fully operational without any remaining issues. The government remains committed to overseeing the integrity of the service, regardless of the provider.
