Maroc Telecom and INWI Partner to Boost Fiber Optics and 5G Deployment Across Morocco

Maroc Telecom (IAM) and INWI (Wana Corporate) have signed an agreement to accelerate the deployment of fiber optics networks and 5G technology across Morocco. The project, which will see an investment of 4.4 billion MAD over three years, aims to improve ultra-high-speed connectivity in the country.

The two operators have agreed to consolidate their passive telecommunications infrastructures through the creation of two joint companies: FiberCo and TowerCo. FiberCo will focus on expanding fiber optic connections, with a target of 1 million connections within two years and 3 million within five years. TowerCo will accelerate the deployment of the 5G network, aiming to establish 2,000 towers within three years and 6,000 within ten years.

This joint venture also marks a resolution of past disputes between the two companies regarding infrastructure sharing, with a compensation settlement amounting to MAD 4.38 billion. The partnership reflects a mutual commitment to enhancing Morocco’s digital infrastructure and contributing to the country’s broader digital transformation goals.
