Anthropic, the U.S.-based AI company behind the Claude chatbot, announced on Monday that it will create over 100 new roles in Europe, focusing on sales, engineering, research, and business operations across its Dublin and London offices. Guillaume Princen has been appointed as the head of Europe, Middle East, and Africa.
Princen, who previously led Stripe’s European expansion and served as CEO of Mooncard, emphasized the importance of advanced AI capabilities for businesses, making the timing of this expansion critical. Anthropic’s Claude, a competitor to OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini, is already being used by major companies like WPP, BMW, and Novo Nordisk.
The company raised $3.5 billion last month in a funding round that valued it at $61.5 billion, with backing from investors such as Lightspeed Venture Partners, Bessemer Venture Partners, and General Catalyst.
