PTA Takes Action Against Mobile Operators for Subpar Service, Fines and Warnings Issued

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has enforced strict measures against mobile phone companies for failing to provide quality services to consumers. Several companies have faced fines and warnings for delivering poor service.

Telenor led the list, receiving the highest number of warning letters, totaling 20. Zong, notorious for its service issues, came in second and was fined over 68 million rupees, with PTA recovering 13.6 million rupees. Jazz faced 11 warning letters, and Ufone was issued 12 warnings for similar service failures.

In response, mobile companies have filed 11 appeals with the PTA. As a result, the authority has frozen over 32 million rupees in bank guarantees submitted by these companies in relation to their appeals.
