Changpeng Zhao, founder and former CEO of Binance, met with PML-N President Nawaz Sharif in Lahore to discuss Pakistan’s future digital economy and the rise of emerging technologies. During the meeting, Zhao, appointed as a strategic adviser to the Pakistan Crypto Council, emphasized blockchain technology’s potential and the importance of education and innovation in driving the digital transformation.
Sharif welcomed Zhao’s role and highlighted the need to position Pakistan as a regional hub for Web3 technologies and digital finance. The discussion also focused on the critical role of youth participation in the digital economy, with a particular focus on blockchain and fintech.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, also present at the meeting, emphasized her government’s commitment to equipping the youth with top-tier IT skills to thrive in the global digital market. The meeting concluded with a shared vision to accelerate digital innovation and create a knowledge-based economy in Pakistan.
