At the Kazakhstan Stock Exchange’s traditional Issuer Day, Arnur Nurkatov, First Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of Kazakhtelecom, outlined the company’s strategic priorities for 2025. These include migrating 70,000 users to fiber optics, installing high-speed routers for 75,000 customers, and launching 124,000 new optical ports nationwide.
Kazakhtelecom is also emphasizing the deployment of artificial intelligence solutions. These include AI-powered call centers, AI platforms, telemedicine, smart bus stops, video analytics, and drone technology. A key focus will be partnering with low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite systems to provide connectivity and Internet access to remote villages and regions across Kazakhstan. Additionally, the company plans to develop its own high-performance GPU cluster to support AI and machine learning applications.
The company’s ambitious projects will require substantial investments, some of which will be funded through borrowing. Despite this, Kazakhtelecom maintains strong financial stability, with no foreign currency debt in its loan portfolio, minimizing currency risk due to potential tenge depreciation.
Arnur Nurkatov also discussed the company’s recent sale of 100% of Mobile Telecom-Service LLP in January 2025. While Kazakhtelecom retained full control of the operator until the end of 2024, the financial indicators for MT-S performance in 2024 are still included for comparison purposes. For continuing operations, Kazakhtelecom’s 2024 revenue reached KZT 494.6 billion, reflecting a 4.6% increase of KZT 21.9 billion over 2023. The company’s net profit for 2024 amounted to KZT 77.2 billion.
Kazakhtelecom continues to expand its presence in both fixed and mobile communications. The company is actively developing its 4G and 5G networks, with the next-generation 5G network now deployed in all major cities of Kazakhstan. As part of a consortium, Kazakhtelecom has exceeded its licensing obligations for building 5G base stations, launching 2,980 base stations by the end of 2024—surpassing the required 2,350 base stations.
