The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) of Oman has issued Royal Decree No. (40/2025), granting a first-class licence to OmanSat Technologies Company for the establishment and operation of a satellite communications system. This move is set to enhance Oman’s telecommunications infrastructure, fostering greater market competitiveness.
OmanSat will be responsible for developing and managing satellite communication systems, aiming to provide fixed public telecommunications services throughout the Sultanate. The licence will support the delivery of broadband internet services, satellite connectivity for communication stations, and broaden connectivity options, especially in rural areas. This initiative aligns with the TRA’s efforts to encourage technological investment, ensure secure infrastructure, and support a flexible regulatory environment.
