Sri Lanka Hosts APICTA Executive Committee Meeting 2025, Strengthening Regional ICT Collaboration

Sri Lanka successfully hosted the Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) Executive Committee (EXCO) Meeting 2025 at the Hilton Colombo, bringing together delegates from 15 APICTA member economies. The forum focused on strengthening regional ICT collaboration, fostering innovation, and advancing digital ecosystems in the Asia-Pacific region.

APICTA, an association of ICT communities, aims to promote technology innovation and indigenous ICT solutions. This year’s EXCO meeting facilitated discussions on e-governance, smart infrastructure, digital entrepreneurship, education technology, and cross-border innovation. Sri Lanka’s hosting of the event underscored its growing role as a digital economy hub and a key partner in the Asia-Pacific technology landscape.

The meeting featured high-level participation, including Sri Lanka’s Deputy Minister of Digital Economy, Eng. Eranga Weeraratne, and Ministry of Digital Economy Acting Secretary Waruna Sri Dhanapala. Sri Lanka’s leadership was further reinforced with Ruwan Amarasekara’s election as APICTA Treasurer and Vajeendra S. Kandegamage’s appointment as Chairman of the Judging Subcommittee.

Sri Lanka’s private sector, represented by MillenniumIT ESP, demonstrated its strength and leadership in the ICT space, while Port City Colombo hosted a special engagement session for delegates, highlighting its vision for a smart, tech-driven financial hub. The event emphasized the shared goal of leveraging digital transformation for inclusive economic growth across the region.
