Starlink to Launch Satellite Internet in Pakistan by Year-End

Starlink is expected to launch its satellite internet services in Pakistan by November or December 2025, according to IT Minister Shaza Fatima. The satellite service is in the final stages of the licensing process, with the regulatory framework being developed, and Starlink will reapply for a full operational license once completed.

Fatima confirmed that there are no significant hurdles in the licensing process, but emphasized the need for careful consideration due to the new technology’s nature. A consultant has been hired to help finalize the regulatory framework, which is expected to be ready soon.

In addition to Starlink, Chinese company Shanghai Spacecom has applied for similar satellite internet services in Pakistan. The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has granted Starlink a temporary license, but a full operational license will be issued once the final regulations are in place. Starlink is expected to complete its infrastructure deployment in the coming months, with services going live by the end of the year.
