Huawei Hosts 2024–2025 Regional Final Closing Ceremony of the Huawei ICT Competition in Amman

Amman, Jordan – Under the esteemed patronage of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Huawei held the Closing Ceremony for the 2024–2025 Regional Final of the Huawei ICT Competition in Amman, bringing together a distinguished audience of senior ministry officials, university presidents, faculty members, students, media representatives, and key stakeholders from the technology sector.

The ceremony began with a welcoming address from Mr. Aiden Li, CEO of Huawei Levant Region, followed by opening remarks from H.E. Professor Mamoun Al-Debi’e, Secretary General of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, who highlighted the importance of investing in youth talent and fostering innovation in higher education. H.E. Professor Nathir Obeidat, President of the University of Jordan, delivered a keynote speech on the value of collaboration between academia and industry in advancing the technical capabilities of Jordanian universities.

A video presentation outlined the Huawei ICT Academy’s decade-long impact in the Middle East and Central Asia, showcasing its role in developing digital skills and preparing students for the future job market.

Dr. Mohammed Madkour, Vice President of ICT Strategy and Marketing at Huawei Middle East & Central Asia, shared insights into Huawei’s digital talent ecosystem, emphasizing the company’s regional initiatives to support education and employment in the ICT sector.

The ceremony recognized outstanding student achievements in various competition tracks, including Innovation, Cloud, Computing, and Network, and honored instructors for their exceptional mentorship and commitment to preparing students throughout the competition phases.

A major highlight was the announcement that three Jordanian students qualified to represent the country in the Global Final of the Huawei ICT Competition in China at the end of May, competing alongside top teams from around the world.

The ceremony also celebrated student ambassadors from universities across Jordan for their role in strengthening the link between academia and industry, and promoting a culture of innovation within their institutions. Several student participants shared their personal experiences with the Huawei ICT Academy, reflecting on the professional skills and knowledge gained through the program.

In closing, Huawei reaffirmed its long-term commitment to supporting Jordan’s education sector through sustainable initiatives such as the ICT Academy, regional competitions, and the Ambassador Program. Huawei emphasized that investing in youth talent is key to building a future-ready digital economy.

Attendees expressed their appreciation for the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s ongoing support and the active involvement of Jordanian universities. The event concluded with a group photo, commemorating the achievements and collaboration shared by all participants.
