Nigeria’s National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with SecDojo, a cybersecurity training and upskilling company based in France, to enhance the country’s defense against cyberthreats. The agreement was formalized during this week’s GITEX Africa 2025 event in Marrakech, Morocco.
This partnership is aimed at reinforcing Nigeria’s cybersecurity infrastructure through a series of targeted capacity-building initiatives. Key aspects of the collaboration include the creation of a Cybersecurity Academy, advanced training and simulation programs, the development of customized curricula and educational resources, and the facilitation of research, knowledge-sharing, and professional exchange initiatives.
The move aligns with the current administration’s commitment to enhancing national security by adopting strong cybersecurity measures and promoting digital trust. Kashifu Inuwa, the Director General of NITDA, expressed his excitement about the partnership, highlighting the importance of human capital investment as Nigeria progresses with its digital transformation. He also pointed out the growing global demand for cybersecurity professionals and noted that Nigeria, with its large, youthful population, is well-positioned to help bridge the talent gap.
Inuwa stressed the need to shift from short-term skills training to a long-term approach that integrates digital skills across all levels of education—from primary to tertiary. He called for further collaborations with vendors to advance digital literacy and support the nation’s cybersecurity development efforts.
