ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has reported a steady increase in 3G/4G users and mobile penetration for March 2025, continuing the upward trend from February.
As of March 2025, the number of 3G and 4G users in Pakistan rose to 143.442 million, up from 141.64 million in February. This growth resulted in an increase in Next Generation Mobile Service (NGMS) penetration, which climbed from 57.68% in February to 58.31% by March.
In terms of overall teledensity, the number of mobile connections per 100 people grew from 80.87% to 81.3% during the same period. The total number of cellular subscribers across Pakistan also saw an uptick, rising from 196.017 million in February to 197.447 million by the end of March.
Breaking down the performance of individual telecom operators:
- Jazz maintained its 3G user base at zero, while its 4G subscribers increased from 52.395 million to 53.301 million.
- Zong’s 3G users declined slightly from 1.785 million to 1.766 million, though its 4G user base grew from 39.594 million to 39.998 million.
- Telenor experienced a drop in 3G users, falling from 1.158 million to 1.094 million, while its 4G subscribers grew from 25.967 million to 26.371 million.
- Ufone’s 3G users slightly decreased from 1.911 million to 1.880 million, but its 4G user count rose from 17.093 million to 17.305 million.
The overall increase in 3G/4G users and mobile penetration underscores the continued growth of digital connectivity and internet access across Pakistan, signaling a positive trajectory for mobile technology adoption in the country.
