Khaleeji Bank, a leading Islamic financial institution in Bahrain, has unveiled Visa+, a new digital money transfer service that allows customers to send funds across GCC countries using only the recipient’s mobile number. This makes Khaleeji Bank one of the first in the region to offer such an innovative service, underscoring its commitment to modernizing financial services and driving digital transformation.
Visa+ enables Khaleeji Bank customers to send money to Visa debit and prepaid cardholders in neighboring GCC countries without the need for sensitive information such as 16-digit card numbers or IBANs. This ensures greater security and convenience for users, eliminating friction in cross-border transactions.
Ameera Al Abbasi, Head of Retail Banking at Khaleeji Bank, expressed pride in launching the Visa+ service, which she described as a transformative shift in the world of money transfers. She added, “At Khaleeji Bank, we continuously strive to offer modern, secure, and intuitive banking solutions that align with our customers’ evolving needs and aspirations.”
Visa+ simplifies the money transfer process, allowing users to send funds effortlessly to Visa cardholders across the GCC using only a mobile number. This secure, fast, and user-friendly service eliminates the need for traditional account or card details, enhancing both privacy and transaction security.
The introduction of Visa+ reflects Khaleeji Bank’s ongoing efforts to provide innovative, Sharia-compliant financial solutions that cater to the dynamic needs of individuals and businesses. The service is set to streamline peer-to-peer (P2P) payments, cross-border remittances, and loan disbursements, reinforcing the bank’s role in Bahrain’s Islamic banking sector.
