Khaleeji Bank Launches Visa+ for Secure and Effortless Digital Money Transfers Across GCC

Khaleeji Bank, an Islamic financial institution in Bahrain, has introduced Visa+, a new digital money transfer service that enables users to send funds across GCC countries using only the recipient’s mobile number. This makes Khaleeji Bank one of the first institutions in the region to offer this innovative service, underscoring its commitment to modernizing financial services and driving digital transformation.

Visa+ allows Khaleeji Bank customers to send money to Visa debit and prepaid cardholders in neighbouring GCC states without needing to share sensitive information such as card numbers or IBANs. This feature enhances both the security and convenience of cross-border transactions, reducing friction for users.

Ameera Al Abbasi, Head of Retail Banking at Khaleeji Bank, commented on the launch: “As a bank that consistently leads in delivering the latest innovations to our clients, we are proud to launch Visa+. This service represents a transformative shift in money transfers. At Khaleeji Bank, we are committed to offering secure, modern, and intuitive banking solutions that cater to our customers’ evolving needs.”

The Visa+ service is designed to improve user privacy and streamline peer-to-peer (P2P) payments, cross-border remittances, and loan disbursements. By eliminating the need for traditional account or card details, it enhances transaction security and simplifies the user experience.

This launch further solidifies Khaleeji Bank’s position in Bahrain’s Islamic banking sector, continuing its mission to offer modern, Sharia-compliant financial services that meet the needs of individuals and businesses.
