Morocco is preparing for a significant technological upgrade with the rollout of 5G mobile technology scheduled for November, just before the African Cup of Nations (AFCON). The National Telecommunications Regulatory Agency (ANRT) plans to offer 5G access to 25% of the population by the end of 2025, expanding to 70% by 2030.
The initial deployment will focus on major urban centers, key economic zones, and priority areas like industrial sectors, technology parks, and innovation hubs. Universities, research centers, and industries such as automotive and aeronautics will also be early beneficiaries of the high-speed 5G network.
A spokesperson from ANRT stated that new regulatory standards being finalized will ensure both extensive coverage and quality service to meet user expectations, driving Morocco’s digital transformation.
