Doha, April 29, 2024: The Second Arab Postal Leaders Forum officially began today in Doha, Qatar, under the theme “Accelerating Innovation in the Parcel Market to Win in the Age of E-Commerce.” Organized by the Universal Postal Union (UPU) represented by the UPU’s Regional Office for the Arab Region in partnership with the Communication Regulatory Authority (CRA), this landmark event brings together representatives of ministries, regulatory authorities and postal leaders from across the Arab region to explore innovative strategies for developing the postal sector in response to the rapid rise of e-commerce.
The two-day forum features a series of high-level discussions aimed at harnessing emerging technologies to enhance postal efficiency, customer satisfaction, and e-commerce integration. Key sessions will explore how postal networks can transition from traditional systems to advanced digital platforms, leverage data analytics for operational efficiency, and integrate artificial intelligence (AI) to optimize delivery processes. Participants will also discuss strategies for enhancing customer experiences through personalized services and flexible delivery options.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Engineer Ahmad Abdulla AlMuslemani, President of the Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA), emphasized the importance of regulatory tools in shaping the future of postal services, saying: “The rapid growth of e-commerce has redefined how we think about logistics and delivery. This forum provides an invaluable platform for Arab postal leaders to collaborate on innovative regulatory solutions that will not only address today’s demands but also anticipate tomorrow’s challenges. Through our efforts to develop regulatory tools for the postal sector, we can empower postal companies to become enablers of e-commerce and drivers of economic growth, in line with our future strategy and Qatar National Vision 2030.”
The event also highlights regional collaboration as a key factor in achieving success. Through roundtable discussions and breakout sessions, participants will share insights on overcoming common challenges and fostering partnerships that strengthen the region’s competitive position
in global markets. Case studies from Arab countries will demonstrate practical applications of AI and other technologies in optimizing postal operations.
This forum aims to contribute tangible benefits to both postal service providers and stakeholders, enabling consumers to experience improvements in the speed and efficiency of parcel delivery, ensuring smoother and more reliable customer experience in the growing e-commerce world.
