Abu Dhabi: The UAE Ministry of Education has announced the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a core subject in all public schools, beginning in the 2025–2026 academic year. This initiative is designed to equip students from kindergarten to Grade 12 with the knowledge and skills required to excel in a tech-driven world.
The curriculum will cover seven key areas: data and algorithms, software applications, ethical awareness in AI, real-world AI applications, AI-driven innovation and project design, AI policies, and social engagement. These topics will be tailored to students’ age groups and incorporated into existing class schedules without adding extra hours.
To support this change, the ministry will provide teachers with detailed resources, including lesson plans, templates, and interactive activities that can be adapted to various teaching environments.
Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the Education and Human Resources Council, called this move a “strategic milestone” aligned with the UAE’s vision for the future. “Integrating Artificial Intelligence into public education reflects our commitment to equipping future generations with the necessary tools to succeed in a rapidly evolving, tech-driven world,” he said.
Sheikha Mariam bint Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice Chairperson of the Education and Human Resources Council, emphasized the importance of teaching children to use AI responsibly. “As AI becomes the language of the future, introducing it in schools is a gateway to shaping that future,” she added.
