Orange Jordan has made a groundbreaking move by becoming the first telecommunications provider in the country to offer satellite broadband services to both consumers and businesses, utilizing the Eutelsat Konnect satellite. This milestone follows a multi-year partnership agreement between Orange and Eutelsat, aimed at expanding satellite internet services across Africa and the Middle East.
The new offering provides high-speed internet access, with download speeds of up to 100 Mbps, even in Jordan’s most remote areas. Eutelsat’s KVHTS (Ka-band Very High Throughput Satellite) service plays a crucial role in providing reliable digital connectivity to underserved regions, offering a simple, flexible solution for off-grid or isolated areas. This initiative highlights the significant role of satellite technology in bridging the global digital divide.
This regional expansion also covers Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, with plans for a broader rollout to all countries in the region. The partnership aims to enhance digital inclusion and access to essential online services across Orange-served markets.
Jérôme Hénique, CEO of Orange Africa and the Middle East, emphasized that this partnership aligns with Orange’s commitment to connecting all territories and promoting digital equity. Orange currently serves over 160 million customers in Africa and the Middle East and is dedicated to providing sustainable, locally compliant connectivity solutions.
Cyril Dujardin, President of Eutelsat’s Connectivity Business Unit, also praised the collaboration, highlighting the synergy between Eutelsat’s satellite infrastructure and Orange’s strong regional presence. This partnership offers an affordable and effective solution for areas where traditional infrastructure is limited or unavailable.
With this launch, Orange Jordan has set a new precedent for the country’s telecommunications industry, bringing high-speed internet to regions previously offline and paving the way for expanded regional connectivity.
