Fonepay hosted the 21st Asian Payment Network (APN) Forum in Kathmandu on May 6-7, gathering delegates from 14 member countries to discuss cross-border retail payment initiatives and digital financial cooperation. The forum took place at the Hilton Hotel, Kathmandu, and featured high-level meetings, panel discussions, and the APN Annual General Meeting (AGM).
During the AGM, updates on the APN Charter and cross-border payment projects were reviewed. The delegates also met with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. At the AGM, BancNet from the Philippines was elected as the new APN chair, and Fonepay from Nepal became the vice chair. Fonepay and UnionPay (China) were appointed as the Technical Sub-Committee chair and vice chair, respectively. Other appointments included Rintis (Indonesia) and NAPAS (Vietnam) as Business Sub-Committee heads, NITMX (Thailand) and Artajasa (Indonesia) for Risk Sub-Committee, PayNet (Malaysia) as auditor, and NETS (Singapore) as treasurer.
The forum concluded with an Open Day featuring panel discussions on fraud risk, regional integration, and regulatory alignment. Fonepay shared insights from its regional collaborations, emphasizing the importance of secure and interoperable digital payment systems across Asia.
