Startup Bangladesh Invests in Shikho to Accelerate AI-Driven Education in the Country

Startup Bangladesh Limited (SBL), the government-backed venture capital arm of the ICT Division, has announced a strategic investment in Shikho, an EdTech startup, on May 7. This move aims to fast-track the adoption of AI-powered learning tools across Bangladesh.

With this new funding round, Shikho’s total investment has now surpassed $8 million, according to a press release from Startup Bangladesh. The partnership between Startup Bangladesh and Shikho is expected to accelerate the development of AI-based educational tools and content, expanding access to quality academic learning in both urban and rural areas.

The funding will help Shikho scale its efforts in creating a modern, mobile-first learning experience for millions of students nationwide. This investment will also empower teachers and transform the educational experience across Bangladesh, with a focus on inclusivity.

“Having the government’s backing is a milestone moment,” said Shahir Chowdhury, Founder and CEO of Shikho. “It validates the work we’ve done so far and, more importantly, where we are headed. AI’s acceleration presents an opportunity to reinvent education, empowering teachers and transforming schools across Bangladesh.”

The funding round also saw participation from several private investors, including local angel investors Wasikur Rahman, Kazi Zeeshan Rabeth Hasan, and Kazi Zahin Shahpar Hasan, as confirmed by Startup Bangladesh.
