Egypt Completes First Accredited Training Program for SOC Professionals in Energy Sector

Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources (MoPMR) announced on May 6, 2025, the successful completion of its first accredited training program for Security Operations Center (SOC) professionals, marking a significant advancement in strengthening cybersecurity across the country’s energy sector.

The program, fully sponsored by the MoPMR and hosted by the Engineering for the Petroleum and Process Industries (ENPPI), was organized by CYSHIELD Digital Innovation and Cybersecurity Solutions. This initiative reflects Egypt’s broader strategy to improve cybersecurity within the petroleum and mineral resources sector, linking industrial expertise with governmental priorities to create a strong and sustainable foundation for cyber resilience.

Khaled Salah, Assistant Minister for Information Systems and Digital Transformation and Head of the Sectoral Cybersecurity Committee, highlighted that petroleum sector SOCs are being connected to the National Cybersecurity Center to ensure coordinated and unified protection efforts. He emphasized that cybersecurity is now a critical aspect of modern institutions, extending beyond just IT departments.

Ahmed Randi, Head of the Central Administration for Communications at the Ministry, stressed the importance of enhancing cybersecurity readiness and the need to develop professionals’ skills within the petroleum sector.

The certificate awarding ceremony for the training program was held in the presence of ENPPI Chairman, Wael Lotfy, who officially inaugurated the event.

With cybersecurity being crucial for oil and gas companies to protect their infrastructure from unauthorized access, data breaches, and cyberattacks, this training program plays a vital role in safeguarding sensitive data, including intellectual property, exploration details, and financial records in the energy sector.
