Yaqoot by Zain KSA has introduced a new feature that allows visitors arriving in Saudi Arabia to verify and register their mobile SIM cards through the Ministry of Interior’s Absher platform. This makes Yaqoot the first digital telecom service in the Kingdom to offer such a seamless solution.
The service, available in the Absher app’s authentication section (WTHIQ), enables visitors—whether they are tourists or pilgrims coming for Hajj or Umrah—to obtain regular SIM cards or embedded eSIMs via the Yaqoot app. They can then complete registration and identity verification online, eliminating the need to visit physical stores or undergo in-person fingerprinting at telecom branches.
Since its launch in 2018, Yaqoot has been at the forefront of digital innovation in Saudi Arabia, offering customers a fully digital experience via Zain KSA’s 5G network. Through the Yaqoot app, users can order SIM cards, activate them, and even manage monthly renewals without the need for biometric identification, documents, or paperwork.
Njoud AlShehri, Executive VP of Strategy and Innovation at Zain KSA, emphasized that this initiative aligns with Saudi Vision 2030’s goal to improve the visitor experience. By partnering with Absher, Yaqoot enhances the convenience for visitors and showcases its commitment to delivering an integrated and digitally mature service to customers.
