Saudi Arabia Partners with U.S. Tech Giants to Boost AI Infrastructure and Innovation

Saudi Arabia has announced strategic partnerships with four major U.S. technology companies — NVIDIA, AMD, Cisco, and Amazon Web Services (AWS) — to advance its artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities and infrastructure. These agreements were formed through the kingdom’s Public Investment Fund’s AI subsidiary, HUMAIN, marking a significant step toward positioning Saudi Arabia as a global AI powerhouse.

Through its partnership with NVIDIA, HUMAIN will develop up to 500 megawatts of AI infrastructure over the next five years, powered by advanced GPUs. The first phase of this deployment includes the installation of an 18,000 NVIDIA GB300 Grace Blackwell AI supercomputer with NVIDIA InfiniBand networking. This collaboration underscores HUMAIN’s mission to establish Saudi Arabia as a leader in AI, combining cutting-edge infrastructure, advanced AI models, and human capital development.

Similarly, HUMAIN and AMD will invest up to $10 billion to deploy 500 megawatts of AI compute capacity. This partnership will utilize AMD’s advanced AI technologies, including Instinct GPUs, EPYC CPUs, and ROCm open software to power AI workloads across various markets, ensuring accessibility and scalability for startups, enterprises, and sovereign projects.

The partnership with Cisco will focus on enhancing AI infrastructure, supporting AI ecosystem growth, and accelerating innovation. Cisco’s AI-ready infrastructure solutions, including Nexus, Nexus HyperFabric, and UCS technologies, will be integrated with security solutions to protect AI applications and data. This collaboration aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, advancing its transformation into a diversified digital economy.

With AWS, HUMAIN announced a $5 billion investment to build an “AI Zone” in Saudi Arabia. This zone will feature dedicated AWS AI infrastructure, UltraCluster networks for AI training and inference, and services like SageMaker and Bedrock to drive AI research and development in the region.

Tareq Amin, CEO of HUMAIN, emphasized that these investments are not just about infrastructure but also about democratizing access to advanced AI. “We are ensuring that access to AI is limited only by imagination, not by infrastructure,” he said. This sentiment was echoed by Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA, who described AI as essential infrastructure, akin to electricity and the internet.

The collaborations will also focus on upskilling Saudi talent, with plans for training programs in advanced AI, robotics, simulation, and digital twin technologies, supporting the kingdom’s broader goal of economic diversification and digital leadership.

Abdullah Alswaha, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, praised the partnerships, stating that they represent a major step in scaling AI infrastructure and advancing Saudi Arabia’s position as a leading hub for AI innovation in the region and beyond.
