Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Saudi AI firm HUMAIN have launched a major partnership to invest over $5 billion to build a dedicated AI Zone in Saudi Arabia, featuring cutting-edge infrastructure and cloud services. The AI Zone will accelerate the adoption of generative AI (genAI), large language models (LLMs), and AI-driven public services, supporting Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 ambitions to become a global tech leader.
The new AI Zone will incorporate advanced AWS infrastructure, including high-performance servers, next-generation semiconductors, and UltraCluster networking to enhance AI training and inference speeds. AWS services such as SageMaker, Bedrock, and Amazon Q—an advanced AI coding assistant—will be available to help organizations build and deploy AI applications, including Arabic-language LLMs.
HUMAIN will leverage AWS technology to develop AI solutions and collaborate with AWS on a shared marketplace for AI software, simplifying government access to AI tools. The partnership targets key sectors like education, healthcare, and government to personalize learning, improve disease detection, and streamline public services.
As part of the initiative, AWS will establish a Generative AI Innovation Center with HUMAIN to support startups, enterprises, and government agencies in enhancing their AI capabilities. The collaboration also includes expanding training programs to certify 100,000 Saudis in cloud and AI skills through partnerships with the Public Investment Fund (PIF) and AWS certification programs.
Abdullah Alswaha, Saudi Minister of Communications and IT, called the partnership foundational for the intelligent era, reinforcing Saudi Arabia’s position as a global AI hub. AWS CEO Matt Garman emphasized the commitment to Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and driving innovation across industries.
Saudi Arabia is poised to become the largest AI economy in the Middle East, with PwC estimating AI will contribute $130 billion to the Kingdom’s economy by 2030, representing over 40% of the region’s AI value.
