Jordan Senate President Inaugurates Conference on Digitisation and Economic Empowerment

AMMAN — Senate President Faisal Fayez inaugurated the “Digitisation for Economic Empowerment in a Rapidly Changing World” conference in Aqaba, organised by the Pioneering Centre in partnership with the Arabia Centre for Entrepreneurship and Empowerment.

The event convened entrepreneurs, business leaders, and experts from across the Arab world to explore economic empowerment and entrepreneurship amid rapid digital transformation. Discussions highlighted success stories and innovative models for digital and economic growth.

In his opening remarks, Fayez praised Jordan’s progress in advancing women’s participation in economic, social, and political fields, crediting His Majesty King Abdullah’s steadfast support. He noted that Jordanian women have become key contributors to sustainable development, occupying leadership roles nationally and internationally.

Fayez emphasized that royal-backed legislative reforms have strengthened women’s rights and political inclusion through quotas and affirmative measures. Today, women hold senior positions as ministers, judges, parliamentarians, military officers, and ambassadors.

He also commended Aqaba’s transformation into a modern, future-ready Red Sea hub under HRH Crown Prince Hussein’s leadership.

Highlighting digital transformation as essential for national progress, Fayez stressed its role in empowering women economically by expanding access to technology, digital education, and entrepreneurship opportunities, especially through online platforms.

The conference featured panels on women’s entrepreneurship, digital inclusion, and collaborative roles of public and private sectors in fostering women’s participation in development.
