The Libyan International Telecommunications Company announced the full restoration of services at the Abu Salim – Km 4 station following a “deliberate sabotage attempt” that caused significant damage to critical infrastructure. According to an official statement, unknown attackers cut power and damaged backup generators, leading to a total operational shutdown and widespread service disruptions in the area.
Despite security challenges, technical teams from the state-owned company, operating under the Libyan Post, Telecommunications and Information Technology Holding Company, successfully restored power and telecommunications services. Authorities have not disclosed any suspects or motives, and investigations are ongoing.
This incident underscores the persistent vulnerability of critical infrastructure in the region.
