Orange Jordan Launches Satellite Broadband Service, Expanding High-Speed Internet to Remote Areas

Orange Jordan has become the first telecommunications provider in the country to offer satellite broadband services to consumers and businesses, leveraging the Eutelsat Konnect satellite. This milestone follows a strategic multi-year agreement between Orange and Eutelsat aimed at delivering satellite internet across Africa and the Middle East.

The new service offers high-speed internet with download speeds up to 100 Mbps, reaching even the most remote and off-grid areas of Jordan. The launch of the KVHTS (Ka-band Very High Throughput Satellite) service marks a significant step in expanding reliable digital connectivity to underserved regions, helping to bridge the digital divide.

This initiative is part of a broader regional deployment plan under the Orange-Eutelsat partnership, which initially covers Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, with plans to gradually expand to all countries Orange serves in the region.

Jérôme Hénique, CEO of Orange Africa and Middle East, emphasized the partnership’s alignment with Orange’s mission to connect all territories and promote digital equity. Orange currently serves over 160 million customers across Africa and the Middle East, committed to providing sustainable and compliant connectivity solutions.

Cyril Dujardin, President of Eutelsat Group’s Connectivity Business Unit, highlighted the synergy between Eutelsat’s satellite infrastructure and Orange’s regional presence, offering an affordable, reliable solution to connectivity challenges where traditional infrastructure is limited.

With this launch, Orange Jordan sets a new precedent in the country’s telecom sector by delivering transformative high-speed internet access to previously unconnected areas, paving the way for expanded regional satellite connectivity.
