Ericsson and Zain Jordan Launch Cloud-Native BSS Transformation to Elevate Telecom Services

Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) and Zain Jordan have embarked on a major Business Support Systems (BSS) transformation project designed to modernize Zain Jordan’s telecom infrastructure and enhance digital services, customer experiences, and operational agility. This strategic initiative will transition Zain Jordan’s converged BSS architecture to a cutting-edge cloud-native model, empowering innovation and flexibility within Jordan’s rapidly evolving telecommunications and IT landscape.

Building on a partnership spanning over a decade, Ericsson will upgrade and expand its existing Ericsson Charging system for Zain Jordan, integrating the latest software versions and new functionalities. This upgrade will be hosted on the Ericsson Cloud Native Infrastructure Solution, enabling Zain Jordan to adopt a catalog-based business model that facilitates a seamless and highly personalized customer experience—particularly benefiting prepaid customers.

The transformation aims to boost Zain Jordan’s service agility, accelerate time to market, optimize operational costs, and unlock new opportunities in 5G monetization. By leveraging Ericsson’s cloud-native expertise, Zain Jordan will accelerate its digitalization journey and reinforce its commitment to advancing Jordan’s telecommunications market.

Wesam Abu Hashhash, Technology and Digital Innovation Director at Zain Jordan, said, “This investment reflects our commitment to delivering innovative services and an exceptional customer journey. By digitalizing our prepaid customer service experience with Ericsson’s monetization and core commerce portfolio, we are setting the stage for a more agile and customer-centric approach. This transformation will enable us to meet the evolving needs of our customers while maintaining our leadership in the Kingdom’s telecommunications sector and support the broader digital transformation efforts across the Kingdom.”

Kevin Murphy, Vice President and Head of Ericsson North Middle East and Africa, added, “Through this cloud-native transformation, we are enabling Zain Jordan to enhance customer service experiences, improve time to market and agility, streamline operations, and unlock new opportunities in the digital economy. As Zain continues to evolve its service offerings in Jordan, this transformation will pave the way for future innovations that enhance connectivity and service experiences across the Kingdom.”

This partnership directly supports Jordan’s ambitions to develop its digital economy and strengthens the country’s position as a key regional player in the telecom sector.
