Hosted by the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) under the auspices of Egypt’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), the third edition of Software Testing Day 2025 in Cairo marked a landmark by joining the International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB) Global Conference Network. This move places Egypt among a select group of countries influencing global software testing standards, showcasing its rapidly growing expertise in software quality and AI-driven development.
The event gathered over 500 industry experts, engineers, and global leaders to explore how AI, DevOps, and digital innovation are transforming software testing practices. Keynote speakers and sessions highlighted the integration of large language models, AI agents, and automation tools within continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, emphasizing the future of software testing in an AI-enabled era.
Ahmed El-Zaher, CEO of ITIDA, stressed the strategic importance of software testing as a core pillar of Egypt’s digital economy and its emergence as a trusted destination for global offshoring of quality assurance services. SECC, the Software Engineering Competence Centre affiliated with ITIDA and the sole ISTQB-certified examination body in Egypt, has certified over 9,000 professionals with 13,600 certificates in key specializations such as AI, security, and automotive software testing.
Dr. Klaudia Dussa-Zieger, ISTQB President, praised the conference’s blend of local and international expertise and its commitment to evolving the ISTQB Certification Scheme to address AI’s impact on testing.
The conference featured insights from industry leaders at Microsoft, Deloitte, Expleo, and DXC, alongside live demonstrations of intelligent testing tools focused on secure coding and AI validation.
Sessions by Joel Oliveira, ISTQB Governance Chair, and Erik van Veenendaal, TMMi Management Executive, emphasized the need for testers to embrace AI to remain leaders in the field and how testing maturity models are evolving alongside agile and AI-driven workflows.
Looking ahead, ITIDA remains committed to empowering Egypt’s tech talent and elevating the country’s software industry to meet global demands for secure, reliable digital solutions, positioning Egypt as a key player in the international software lifecycle.
