Egypt has inaugurated the National Center for Technology Commercialization (NCTC), a new hub designed to transform research innovations into market-ready products. Developed by Progressio in partnership with the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT) and overseen by the Ministry of Higher Education, the NCTC aims to connect academia with industry through a collaborative public platform.
The center supports scientists, startups, and private firms with intellectual property protection, technology transfer, licensing, and early-stage venture development, focusing on high-impact sectors such as agriculture, energy, healthcare, and IT. Despite strong entrepreneurial interest—60% of Egyptian adults express business-starting ambitions—patent filings remain low, underscoring a gap between innovation and commercialization that NCTC seeks to close.
NCTC is a key element of the One Million Minds Movement, an initiative to empower Egyptian innovators via incubators, workshops, and mentorships. Further details on the center’s digital platform and public programs will be announced soon.
