Careem Pay has launched a new remittance service enabling users in the UAE to send money directly to bank accounts in Jordan, providing a faster and more cost-effective option in one of the region’s busiest money transfer corridors. This expansion follows Careem Pay’s existing support for transfers to India, Pakistan, the UK, Europe, the Philippines, Lebanon, and Egypt.
Jordan ranks among the top recipients of remittances from the UAE, with annual flows exceeding $1 billion in recent years. The launch comes ahead of Arafah Day and Eid Al Adha, periods traditionally associated with increased remittance activity.
Mohammad El Saadi, VP of Careem Pay, emphasized the service’s role in making money transfers simpler and more affordable for Jordanian expatriates. “Sending money home is one of the most meaningful things our customers do with Careem Pay. For many Jordanian expats, it’s about supporting loved ones, covering school fees, or helping parents with everyday expenses,” he said.
Transfers to Jordan are processed within 24 hours on average and are sent in Jordanian Dinars to any valid IBAN. New users can enjoy two fee-free transfers for a limited time, while regular users pay a fixed fee of AED 10. Careem Plus members benefit from additional perks, including waived fees on transfers exceeding AED 1,500.
The remittance feature is accessible through the Careem app under the ‘Send Money’ option, enhancing convenience for users sending funds home.
