The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has secured the top global position across multiple key digital development indicators, including telecommunications infrastructure, digital government, and digital content, as revealed in the second edition of the “State of Digital Transformation Report” by the UAE’s Higher Committee for Government Digital Transformation during the recent Digital Readiness Retreat.
The report highlights the UAE government’s accomplishments across 12 critical sectors such as economy, health, education, energy, logistics, and justice, underscoring the nation’s strategic focus on digital transformation to boost efficiency and enhance quality of life through technological innovation.
Ohood bint Khalfan Al Roumi, Minister of State for Government Development and the Future and Chair of the Committee, affirmed that digital transformation is fundamental to the UAE’s development strategy. According to the report, the UAE leads the UN’s global rankings for telecom infrastructure, digital governance, and digital knowledge, while also ranking in the top five internationally for public service delivery and governance digital maturity.
Currently, the UAE offers 1,419 digital public services, utilized by over 57 million users. There are 460 ongoing digital transformation projects at the federal level aimed at further expanding the digital ecosystem.
Economic digitization is evident with more than 5.2 million tax transactions processed digitally. In healthcare, over 2 million electronic prescriptions have been issued, alongside more than 400,000 remote consultations, demonstrating the extensive impact of digitalization.
The report also emphasizes how digitalization is transforming employment, education, cultural initiatives, and environmental protection, cementing the UAE’s position as one of the world’s most technologically advanced nations.
