Lebanese Government Engages with Elon Musk’s Starlink to Expand Satellite Internet Services

Lebanon’s presidency announced ongoing discussions with Elon Musk’s Starlink to introduce its satellite internet service in the country. President Joseph Aoun met with Starlink’s Global Director of Licensing and Development, Sam Turner, and received updates from Telecom Minister Charles Hage on negotiations with the Telecommunications Ministry.

The talks aim to make Lebanon the 137th country to access Starlink’s high-speed satellite internet, which promises to enhance connectivity for industrial, commercial, banking, educational, and government sectors. Lebanon currently faces significant challenges with outdated and costly internet and telecom services, positioning this initiative as a critical step toward improving national digital infrastructure.
