Saudi Arabia Employs AI and Smart Technologies to Enhance Hajj Pilgrimage Experience for Millions

Saudi Arabia is leveraging advanced smart technologies and AI-driven platforms to serve nearly two million Muslim pilgrims during this year’s Hajj. Authorities have introduced several digital services to simplify the spiritual journey and improve safety and convenience for pilgrims.

One key innovation is Manarah 2, an AI robot offering real-time assistance in over 20 languages at key pilgrimage sites. Nusuk cards allow pilgrims to book visits to the Holy Rawdah at the Prophet’s Mosque and store personal contact and accommodation details, reducing incidents of lost pilgrims.

The Makkah Bus Guidance Center, using smart technology alongside the Nusuk and Arshidni platforms, ensures safe and accurate transport to accommodations. The Tawakkalna health app provides pilgrims with health updates and access to medical services.

Additional AI-driven apps include the Smart Enrichment Assistant, which offers multilingual information on prayer times, imam schedules, and religious classes. The Makkah Route Initiative facilitates streamlined travel procedures for pilgrims from their home countries, complemented by a luggage coding and sorting system to manage baggage delivery seamlessly.

Pilgrims can also access mobile apps for Quran recitation and learning, enhancing their spiritual experience.

With over 1.2 million pilgrims already arrived, Saudi Arabia’s smart infrastructure is set to support the millions participating in Hajj, the Islamic faith’s fifth pillar, commemorating the trials of Prophet Abraham and his family.
