Sri Lankan Delegation Engages with AI Singapore at Asia Tech x Singapore 2025 Summit

Deputy Minister of Digital Economy Eranga Weeraratne led Sri Lanka’s delegation to the Asia Tech x Singapore 2025 Summit held at Singapore EXPO from May 27–29. The delegation met with Laurence Liew, Director of AI Innovation at AI Singapore, who showcased the organization’s advances in research, technology, governance, and AI products, including the flagship “SeaLion v3” system, which garnered strong interest.

Discussions also covered a proposed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to deepen bilateral collaboration on AI initiatives, coordinated via the Sri Lanka High Commission in Singapore. The delegation reviewed AI projects tailored for Sri Lanka, such as a gemstone color grading tool and a Sinhala speech recognition system.

Accompanying Deputy Minister Weeraratne were High Commissioner Senarath Dissanayake, Head of Chancery Ahamed Razee, Digital Economy Advisor Sumudu Rathnayaka, and ICTA Director Harsha Purasinghe.

The engagement marks a significant step in strengthening international AI cooperation, supporting Sri Lanka’s broader digital transformation objectives.
