Cyshield and Thales Launch Egypt’s First eSIM Connectivity Service, Transforming Mobile and IoT Experience

Cyshield, a leading digital solutions company in Egypt, has partnered with Thales, a global leader in secure advanced technologies, to launch Egypt’s first-ever eSIM (embedded SIM) connectivity services for consumer and IoT devices. Based in Cairo, Cyshield supports all four of Egypt’s mobile network operators by enabling seamless eSIM device connectivity and flexible subscription management for smartphones, smartwatches, and other IoT devices.

Thales provides Cyshield with its advanced eSIM Management platform, enabling secure, fast over-the-air mobile subscription downloads while ensuring compliance with the latest consumer and M2M/IoT standards. The platform addresses data sovereignty challenges and guarantees interoperability and security of communication profiles.

This pioneering service allows millions of Egyptians to benefit from eSIM-enabled devices and enjoy the flexibility of hosting multiple mobile subscriptions on one device. Consumers can easily switch operators and select preferred plans with a single click. For the M2M/IoT sector, Cyshield acts as Egypt’s national connectivity hub, supporting smart metering and preparing for evolving global standards.

Since its launch, Cyshield has completed over 400,000 end-user subscription downloads and plans to expand into industrial IoT applications throughout 2025. The service is fully certified by Egypt’s National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA).

Khaled Taher and Waleed Ragab, Products Directors at Cyshield, praised Thales for delivering a secure, GSMA-certified solution that meets regulatory requirements and enhances user experience, while unlocking new commercial opportunities for mobile operators.

Sherif Barakat, Country Director for Egypt at Thales, highlighted the collaborative nature of this sovereign project involving Cyshield, Thales, GSMA, NTRA, and Egyptian operators, marking a significant advancement for the growing eSIM ecosystem in North Africa and beyond.
