e& UAE, the flagship telecom operator of e&, has published a visionary whitepaper titled “Shaping the Future: e& UAE’s 6G Vision,” outlining its strategic roadmap for the next generation of connectivity. Building on its leadership in 5G and record-setting 5G-Advanced speeds of 62 Gbps, e& UAE presents 6G as a revolutionary network paradigm designed to connect the unconnected, power immersive digital experiences, and drive intelligent digital transformation at scale.
Marwan Bin Shakar, Acting CTIO of e& UAE, described 6G as more than just faster speeds—it represents the foundational nervous system of a cognitive, secure, and sovereign digital nation. The vision centers on embedding AI across all network layers to enable self-optimizing, predictive, and fully autonomous service delivery, essential for smart cities, autonomous mobility, and real-time industrial systems.
The whitepaper highlights key features of the 6G architecture, including:
- AI-Native Networks: Machine learning integrated throughout the network stack, enabling adaptive, intelligent infrastructure rather than an AI overlay.
- Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC): Communication nodes transform into distributed sensors capable of environmental awareness—mapping terrain, tracking assets, and enhancing public safety and urban planning.
- Post-Quantum Cryptography: Incorporating quantum-secure algorithms and secure-by-design principles to protect data and services against emerging quantum threats.
- Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTNs): Native support for satellite and airborne connectivity, ensuring seamless coverage over deserts, oceans, rural areas, and air corridors.
With peak data rates anticipated to reach terabits per second and latencies falling below one millisecond, 6G will power applications such as holographic telepresence, industrial digital twins, autonomous corridors, and immersive tourism—many already being pioneered within the UAE.
Supported by the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) and international collaboration through bodies like ITU and 3GPP, e& UAE is actively shaping global 6G standards, spectrum policies, and use cases.
“6G is a leap from connectivity to cognition, embedding intelligence and environmental awareness into the network itself,” said Bin Shakar. “This strategic evolution will transform public services, infrastructure protection, and economic growth. We are committed to leading 6G standardization and real-world technology trials to build the digital fabric of the future.”
