Muscat – The Ministry of Education (MoE), via the Directorate General of Education in Dakhliyah, has initiated a summer programme at the Science and Technology Centre aimed at engaging over 600 students across the governorate.
Aligned with the 2024-25 academic year, the initiative seeks to cultivate a culture of innovation and scientific curiosity among school students while making productive use of the summer break. The programme, running until June 26, is hosted across multiple science and technology labs throughout Dakhliyah.
Officials highlighted the goal of exposing students to practical scientific applications and cutting-edge technologies within interactive learning environments. The sessions focus on building foundational skills in programming and artificial intelligence, encouraging creativity, critical thinking, and research-driven problem-solving.
Ali bin Khalifa al Hinai, head of the Innovation and Scientific Olympiad Department at the Dakhliyah Education Directorate, noted that the curriculum covers diverse scientific areas including nanotechnology, cybersecurity, robotics engineering, renewable energy, and 3D printing. Workshops on scientific research methods and digital marketing are also included.
Specialised training tracks have been developed for students preparing to represent Oman in international science competitions, with an emphasis on artificial intelligence and robotics. Hinai explained that these efforts align with a broader strategy to equip youth with future-ready skills and foster scientific excellence.
