Muscat – “Raf,” a student-led startup affiliated with the University of Technology and Applied Sciences in Muscat, has developed an innovative digital platform designed to help individuals effortlessly create smart online stores tailored specifically for the Omani market. Leveraging artificial intelligence technologies trained to meet local needs, the platform aims to simplify entry into e-commerce without requiring technical or design expertise.
Saif bin Jumaa Al Hashar, CEO of “Raf,” explained that the platform enables users to launch their stores, adjust pricing, monitor competitor activity, and analyze data through automated intelligent tools. This seamless user experience supports young entrepreneurs and small to medium enterprises in Oman by aligning with the nation’s broader digital transformation initiatives.
Leading a diverse team of 12 members specializing in programming, marketing, design, and financial management, Al Hashar highlighted “Raf”’s flexible subscription plans tailored to entrepreneurs from various backgrounds, making online business creation accessible to all.
Targeting university students, young entrepreneurs, and SME owners, “Raf” was selected among the top 40 startups out of more than 300 participants in the prestigious “Injaz Oman 2025” program. Development on the project began in January 2024, with the prototype completed in early 2025.
The company plans to launch the final version of the platform in early 2026 while seeking initial funding to scale locally, gain institutional support, and forge strategic partnerships. Future platform enhancements powered by AI will include sales data analysis, personalized product recommendations, and a smart business assistant to drive efficient growth for users’ ventures.
