Sheikh Hamdan Meets UAE Space Startups to Boost National Space Ecosystem and Public-Private Collaboration

DUBAI — H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Chairman of the Supreme Space Council, convened a meeting with representatives of leading UAE-based space startups. This engagement reflects his commitment to advancing the national space ecosystem and cementing the UAE’s role as a global leader in the space industry.

Sheikh Hamdan emphasized the critical role of strong partnerships and strategic collaboration between public and private sectors as the foundation for building an advanced, innovative space ecosystem. He stressed that ongoing innovation and sustained investment in future technologies are key drivers of progress.

Expressing confidence in the capabilities of UAE entrepreneurs and companies, Sheikh Hamdan highlighted their vital contribution to expanding the local space sector and elevating the UAE’s global standing as a hub for space innovation.

Recognizing the space sector as a major engine for future and sustainable economic growth, Sheikh Hamdan noted the UAE’s dedicated efforts to create a supportive environment that nurtures national companies, unlocks new investment opportunities, and enhances the country’s competitiveness on the global stage. The maturity of private sector leadership in the space field reflects decades of strategic investment.

Participants represented a broad spectrum of specializations, including Internet of Things (IoT) solutions, artificial intelligence and remote sensing, commercial space ecosystem development, edge computing for robotics, high-resolution Earth observation via microsatellites, robotics, interactive simulation, and reusable launch systems.

The meeting featured discussions on current projects, strategic growth plans, and investment initiatives aligned with national economic goals. Strengthening public-private partnerships, expanding local and international operations, and tapping into emerging opportunities in the UAE’s expanding space sector were central themes.

Company leaders reaffirmed their dedication to the UAE’s space ambitions and outlined plans to grow within the country. They praised the nation’s flexible regulatory environment and cutting-edge infrastructure as key factors supporting ongoing investment. Attendees also highlighted initiatives like the Space Economic Zones Programme as instrumental in fostering collaboration and sustainable growth.
