Pakistan Offers Some of the World’s Cheapest Mobile Data with Prices Dropping 65% Since 2018

Pakistanis are benefiting from some of the world’s most affordable mobile data rates, with the cost of 1 GB falling to just Rs 27.0 during the first half of FY 2025—a 65 percent decline from Rs 77.1 per GB in FY 2018, according to the Economic Survey 2024-25.

This significant reduction stems from proactive regulatory policies and intense competition within Pakistan’s broadband market, positioning the country’s telecom prices among the lowest globally.

At approximately US$0.10 per GB, Pakistan offers the lowest data rates in the region and ranks sixth worldwide for affordability.

Officials from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) attribute this ongoing price decline to their dedication to providing affordable, high-quality services while maintaining fair returns for investors and operators. The trend is expected to further boost digital inclusion and expand internet access across the nation.
