HUTCH Sri Lanka Advances Rainforest Restoration in Rajawaka Forest Reserve with Phase Two Completion

Continuing its commitment to environmental sustainability, HUTCH Sri Lanka has successfully completed the second phase of its rainforest restoration project in partnership with Rainforest Protectors Sri Lanka. The initiative, conducted on May 16, 2025, at the Rajawaka Forest Reserve in Balangoda, aims to rehabilitate degraded forest areas and restore natural habitats through sustained tree planting and conservation efforts.

The project involves active participation from HUTCH employees and local volunteers, structured over multiple phases throughout the year to ensure lasting ecological impact and measurable progress in reforestation. This collaboration aligns with national environmental priorities and global climate goals, demonstrating how corporate-led initiatives can contribute meaningfully to biodiversity preservation and climate resilience.

Mangala Bandara, General Manager – Corporate Affairs at HUTCH Sri Lanka, emphasized the company’s dedication to responsible business practices, stating that the initiative complements CK Hutchison Group’s global net-zero carbon emissions target by 2030 and supports Sri Lanka’s government-led sustainability ambitions.
