Nepal Telecom (NTC) has launched 4G services in Lulang, Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality-02, Myagdi district, marking a significant milestone in bringing high-speed mobile broadband to this remote region. This expansion advances NTC’s goal of nearing 99% 4G coverage across Nepal’s local levels.
The new service followed the installation of a BTS tower in Khoriya, Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality-04, enabling residents and visitors to access fast mobile data. Previously known as Lulang Village Development Committee (VDC), the area suffered from poor signal reception, which has now been resolved with the new tower. Local officials highlighted the improved connectivity at key locations such as the ward office and health post.
The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) played a vital role by extending electricity infrastructure to power the newly installed tower, which had been ready but non-operational due to a lack of power.
NTC continues to prioritize 4G expansion, especially in rural areas, as part of its phased plan to eventually phase out 2G networks and prepare for the launch of 5G services expected in 2082 (Bikram Sambat calendar). With 4G capable of delivering download speeds above 50 Mbps, this expansion supports modern digital needs including social media, video calls, and moderate file downloads.
This launch brings NTC closer to achieving nationwide 4G coverage, ensuring improved connectivity and digital inclusion across Nepal.
