Pakistan and Egypt Strengthen Digital Cooperation with Focus on Cybersecurity and 5G

Islamabad – In a landmark meeting, Egypt’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Dr. Ihab Mohamed Abdelhamid Hassan, and Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication, Ms. Shaza Fatima Khawaja, discussed enhancing bilateral cooperation in digital technology sectors. The dialogue emphasized joint initiatives spanning cybersecurity, maritime cable systems, 5G technology, fintech, training programs, and academic scholarships.

The Egyptian ambassador expressed keen interest in collaborating on 5G deployment and fintech innovation. Minister Khawaja highlighted the synergy between Egypt’s outsourcing goals and Pakistan’s “Digital Pakistan” vision under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Showcasing Pakistan’s advancements, the minister noted the global recognition of Pakistan’s cybersecurity hackathons and invited Egyptian youth to participate, fostering innovation and knowledge exchange. She also underscored the strategic geographies of both countries—with Pakistan as a gateway to Central Asia and Egypt linking to global networks—highlighting Pakistan’s robust telecom infrastructure featuring seven submarine cable systems as a foundation for future collaboration.
