Türk Telekom Advances 6G Innovation with Open RAN Synchronisation Partnership

Türk Telekom has reinforced its leadership in next-generation telecommunications by advancing 6G development through a strategic collaboration with Parallel Wireless and Net Insight. The partnership focuses on pioneering Open RAN standardisation efforts, specifically targeting GPS/GNSS-independent time and frequency synchronisation technologies—a critical innovation integrated into the standardised ORAN network architecture.

Türk Telekom, the first operator globally to deploy a GPS/GNSS-independent synchronisation solution for 5G networks, is adapting this patented technology for 6G. This breakthrough eliminates dependence on satellite systems, enhancing network security, reliability, and reducing operational costs.

Zafer Orhan, Türk Telekom’s Chief Network Officer, emphasized the company’s commitment to shaping future communication standards through global collaboration and innovation. Parallel Wireless CEO Steve Papa highlighted the collective effort to build scalable, efficient Open RAN architectures as a foundation for 6G. Net Insight CEO Crister Fritzson noted the critical role of resilient, satellite-independent synchronisation in evolving mobile networks and securing future 6G performance.

This collaboration is set to influence ITU-T standardisation processes, marking a significant milestone in global 6G ecosystem development.
