The partnership focuses on pioneering Open RAN standardisation efforts, specifically targeting GPS/GNSS-independent time and frequency synchronisation technologies—a critical innovation integrated into the standardised ORAN network architecture.
Türk Telekom, the first operator globally to deploy a GPS/GNSS-independent synchronisation solution for 5G networks, is adapting this patented technology for 6G. This breakthrough eliminates dependence on satellite systems, enhancing network security, reliability, and reducing operational costs.
Zafer Orhan, Türk Telekom’s Chief Network Officer, emphasized the company’s commitment to shaping future communication standards through global collaboration and innovation. Parallel Wireless CEO Steve Papa highlighted the collective effort to build scalable, efficient Open RAN architectures as a foundation for 6G.
