Robi Axiata has appointed Ziad Shatara as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective September 1. Until then, M Riyaaz Rasheed will continue serving as Acting CEO and Chief Financial Officer (CFO), after which he will remain as CFO to maintain financial leadership continuity.
Ziad brings over 30 years of telecommunications experience across markets including Jordan, Italy, Bangladesh, and Cambodia. Renowned for driving innovation, commercial excellence, and technology-led transformation, he has a proven track record in scaling operations and modernizing telecom businesses spanning mobile, broadband, and fixed-line services.
His prior leadership roles include Chief Technology Officer at Wind Telecommunications in Italy, CEO of Banglalink Digital Communications in Bangladesh, CEO of Jordan’s Umniah mobile network, and a transformative tenure at Smart Axiata in Cambodia. Ziad’s expertise in IT, customer experience, and retail operations positions him to lead Robi into its next growth phase.
