Thales, a global leader in aerospace and digital technologies, has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Qatar Airways to support the airline’s strategic fleet expansion and digital transformation. This partnership focuses on advancing inflight entertainment (IFE) technology, including equipping Qatar Airways’ new A321 NX fleet with Thales’ award-winning FlytEDGE cloud-native IFE solution.
A key element of the agreement is the potential development of a dedicated Thales IFE service and maintenance centre in Doha. This facility will provide rapid repair, spare parts distribution, technical support, and turnkey maintenance services for the full range of Thales IFE products across Qatar Airways’ growing fleet. Designed to ensure operational excellence, the centre will bolster the local aerospace and MRO ecosystem while creating high-skilled jobs in line with Qatar Vision 2030.
Qatar Airways’ Chief MRO Officer, Eng. Ali Al Saadi, emphasized the importance of innovation and operational standards in the collaboration, while Yannick Assouad, Executive VP at Thales Avionics, highlighted the mutual commitment to cutting-edge technology and future growth.
