AFD to Leverage Bangabandhu-1 Satellite for Secure Military Communications

In a strategic move to bolster national security infrastructure, Bangladesh’s Armed Forces Division (AFD) has signed an MoU with Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited (BSCL) to utilize three transponders on the Bangabandhu-1 satellite. The agreement ensures modern, secure, and domestically-controlled telecommunications capabilities exclusively for AFD operations.

The signing ceremony was attended by Posts and Telecommunications Secretary Md Khalilur Rahman and Brig Gen Husain Muhammad Masihur Rahman of AFD, with BSCL’s top leadership presiding over the event.

This partnership marks a key step in achieving self-reliance in secure communications, enabling the AFD to customize spectrum use to their specific operational needs. Bangabandhu-1 is already serving several national and international clients, including Akash DTH, Bangladesh Betar, and UK-based Madani Television.
