Ooredoo Expands Google Cloud Partnership to Monetise Telco APIs and Accelerate Digital Innovation

Ooredoo Group has announced an expanded collaboration with Google Cloud, adopting the APIGEE API Management platform to scale its API ecosystem and unlock new revenue streams across its markets. The move enables developers and enterprise clients to access telecom network capabilities—such as Silent Number Verification, SIM Swap, and direct carrier billing—via the GSMA Open Gateway framework.

By leveraging APIGEE, Ooredoo is transforming its telecom infrastructure into an open, programmable platform, allowing third-party developers to build advanced digital services in sectors like fintech, banking, e-commerce, travel, and smart mobility. This shift enhances interoperability, boosts service delivery speed, and allows Ooredoo to monetise APIs directly while offering secure, scalable integration with its networks.

The announcement was made at the Google Cloud Summit Doha, celebrating the second anniversary of Google Cloud’s presence in Qatar. Google Cloud presented Ooredoo Group with an award recognizing its rapid deployment of the APIGEE platform across multiple markets and the Group’s outstanding achievements in API-led innovation.

This collaboration reinforces Ooredoo’s commitment to digital transformation, innovation at scale, and the evolution of telco infrastructure into a next-generation, developer-friendly ecosystem.
